A MODERN ICON OF BIAŁYSTOK

A MODERN ICON OF BIAŁYSTOK

One of the places that always catches my attention in Białystok is the Municipal Stadium. Even if you are not a football fan, it is difficult not to notice its architecture.

The stadium was designed by Kuryłowicz & Associates and completed in 2014. Its most distinctive feature is the open steel structure surrounding the building, creating a dynamic rhythm of white and orange elements. Rather than hiding the structure behind a conventional facade, the architects made it an essential part of the architecture.

I particularly like the way the stadium interacts with its surroundings. The building is surrounded by greenery, and the designers were inspired by the movement of trees, light and shadows. The semi-transparent roof and open structure create changing patterns of light throughout the day.

There is something very energetic about this building. Its geometry, rhythm and strong structural elements perfectly reflect the idea of movement and sport.

For me, it is more than just a football stadium. It is an interesting piece of contemporary architecture — and one of the buildings that gives Białystok its own character.
